Class descriptions:

Vinyasa means to put together or connect. Each breath and body position is a preparation for the next. Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and focus.

Shadow Yoga is based on ancient Hatha Yoga texts and comprised of 4 fixed forms - each containing a prelude, asana-vinyasa, and conclusion. These movements are derived from principles shared by yoga, martial arts, dance and nature. The first form, Balakrama, or "Step to Strength" will be introduced in course form. See events page for details.

Pregnancy Yoga
Develop your acceptance of the present and calmly prepare for what is to come. Find strength, flexibility and balance during the months of pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood with your breath. The importance of listening to your body, connecting with baby and honoring your instincts during pregnancy is a wonderful way to decrease anxiety while adapting to the ongoing changes in your body. Boost your energy with body movements and positions that lengthen the spine to make room for baby while keeping limbs strong and supple. Pelvic floor exercises are designed to increase your awareness for labor and after baby is born. We recommend yoga after your thirteenth week. Ask your doctor if yoga is appropriate for you. Please bring a mat & pillow to class. Some are available for use.

Mom & Baby Yoga
A great way to get out of the house and into a playful and supportive environment. Moms use breathing and yoga postures to restore strength in their centers, revitalize their energy and discover a sense of serenity. Babies interact with mom while experiencing their bodies in space. They can choose to participate, take time to cry, nurse or even sleep. The class is recommended for newborns up to about 1 year, and moms who have been cleared by their doctors to begin exercise. Fathers are welcome to take the class as well. Please bring a mat & baby blanket to class.

Keiki & Youth Yoga Program
Young children are resilient, creative and playful. Yoga is designed to sustain these qualities that exist in all of us. These classes will give your children an opportunity to interact with others their age through creative movement, body awareness exercises and an introduction to relaxation. For young adults, life’s responsibilities can increase stress levels and emotional upset. These classes are designed to pass on tools for coping with day to day challenges, as well as creating a space for building strength, balance and flexibility. The 6-week sessions allow students to learn in progression with their teacher.
