Lilly Berens

"I grew up in Malibu, CA and graduated from UCLA with a BS in Psychobiology with a concentration on neuroscience and a BA in Dance. Confused at the so-called irrelevance that one major has with the other? My motive is to connect the ever-dichotomized mind and body. I've always been frustrated with the mutual absence the fields of science and art have with each other. Finding this continuum between the subjects has become a significant goal. I taught creative movement to children ages 4-12 and noticed that dancing not only expanded the physical abilities of the children, but the imaginative and mental growth was outstanding as well. I found dance provided an emotional release, sewing a therapeutic purpose. While teaching dance, I trained to become a yoga instructor through Maha Yoga and the White Lotus Center in California. Yoga is another way to explore the physicality of the body (science) with the imagination and creativity of the healing arts. I am studying towards a degree in movement/dance therapy and look forward to working with children and adults who want to explore their bodies and imaginations."

Collette O'Keefe, RYT
Collette O'Keefe

Collette knew from her first yoga class she had found an immediate love for the challenging, yet invigorating practice of yoga! Studying multiple styles, Collette’s desire to understand more of the history, theory and culture of yoga only grew stronger with each practice. She found unbelievable benefits within each style, and discovered mini breakthroughs within her self as she continued her practice, working on both the physical and mental bodies. Departing from her corporate career with a dedication to yoga, she let nature take her course, and completed the Teacher Training through Yoga Hawaii. "I believe that yoga provides magical transformations every time you come to the mat and I’m excited to share this powerful experience with you!"

Having participated in competitive sports throughout my childhood and college years my body performed well for me, although I felt disconnected from it. Years later I was drawn to a yoga class for stress-relief during graduate school. I found more, much more, than relief from a bit of stress.
Yoga, for me, has been like a map, allowing me to finally make that connection with my body and leads me time and time again to various treasures- physical, emotional, and spiritual- which I never knew existed within me. With every breath, every pose, every moment, every practice there is something to learn.
As a teacher, I hope to inspire this journey of self-discovery in others and make yoga accessible to each individual.
My yoga practice and yoga training also has been a guiding light in my work as a doula, a childbirth labor assistant. I am honored and humbled whenever I share such sacred space with birthing families. Yoga is truly a lifelong learning experience for all in every stage of life.

Jeni Patterson

Jeni Patterson graduated with a BFA in dance in 1997. Since then, Jeni has found a gift for introducing her art to preschool age children. Kids from Illinois, North Carolina, and all over the island of Oahu have been sharing her love of movement for the last 10 years. Ms. Jeni has devoted herself to teaching children the joy of movement, and created a program called “Movement Matters” for Rainbow School. The program is hugely successful and beneficial to each child! She looks forward to dancing with the kids of the North Shore community, and sharing their imagination and inspiration!

Alicia Whitehill

Alicia recently returned to Hawaii as a yoga instructor. She was one of our first dedicated students that helped Jasmine Yoga take root in Waialua 4 years ago.

"I began yoga primarily as a low-impact workout favoring injured knees. My curiosity quickly became an overwhelming intrigue and I have been on a mission to learn more about this beautiful art. My training has allowed me to honor both my fitness and spiritual goals, and my practice has brought an overall centering in my life, balancing stress and emotional release. My life has been enriched by yoga and every person I have encountered through my journey. When you receive a smile, passing it on will make the world a brighter place. Yoga is my smile."
